You own the website and content you pay for.

Stated here, on a public page, rather than in a contract you sign at the end. If any of it does not suit you, that is a useful thing to find out before you spend money.

“You own the website and content you pay for. Selected CMS access makes specific content fields editable, not the entire application.”

That second sentence is the one worth reading twice, because it is where most disagreements in this industry actually come from. Ownership and editing access are different things, and they get confused constantly.

Owning your site means the domain is yours, the content is yours, the data is yours, and you can take all of it elsewhere. It does not necessarily mean every layout, template and line of code is wired to a text box you can edit on a Sunday afternoon — and for most small businesses it should not, because that is precisely how a fast, accessible site becomes a slow, broken one over eighteen months of well-meaning edits.

If you leave

We would rather you left cleanly than stayed because leaving was hard.

An arrangement that only survives because the exit is painful is not a good arrangement. Here is exactly what handover involves, so you can judge it before you commit rather than afterwards.

  1. 01Your domain needs no transferIt is already in your account. You point it wherever you like.
  2. 02A copy of the built siteThe rendered HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images, ready to be uploaded to any host.
  3. 03Your content, exportedEvery page's text and every image at full resolution, in a form another developer can use.
  4. 04Your enquiry data, exportedA CSV of every enquiry the site has captured, with dates and detail.
  5. 05Account access confirmedWe remove ourselves from your Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console. You keep all of it and all its history.
  6. 06One month's notice, either waySo neither side is caught out mid-month, and the site never goes dark unannounced.

Questions about ownership

Do I own my website?
You own the website and content you pay for, and your domain is registered in your own name from day one. Selected CMS access makes specific content fields editable rather than the entire application — the code, layout and accessibility patterns that keep the site fast and reliable stay maintained by us. That is stated up front rather than discovered later.
Who owns my domain name?
You do. We register it in your name, in an account you control, with auto-renew on. A domain held in a supplier's account is the single most common way small businesses lose control of their web presence, and there is no good reason for it.
What happens to my enquiries and customer data?
They are yours. Enquiries are stored in your own system and are exportable. Analytics and Search Console properties are created under your ownership with us added as a user, so your history stays with you if we part ways.
What if I want to move to another provider?
You take your domain, your content, your data and your accounts, and we hand over what is needed to run the site elsewhere. We would rather you left cleanly than stayed because leaving was made difficult.
